    SIPs have very similar structural properties to I-beams. The Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) core of SIPs perform as the web, while the Oriented Strand Board (OSB) skins exhibit the same properties as the flanges. SIPs replace several components of conventional building such as studs, insulation, and air barrier. Structural Insulated Panels utilize Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)
with todays lumber many studs are made from new growth trees and in turn wood grains are not as tight and which leads to:

  3. Shrinking studs leading to cracks in sheetrock.

Sub-Contractors:

  1. Exterior trim and siding are easily installed since all of the walls and roof are sheathed with Oriented Strand Board (OSB) skins.

  2. Electrical and plumbing is no more with SIP construction than stick frame.

  3. Sheetrockers have flat walls to work with and no studs to find which saves time and money.

  4. Fastening cabinets and trim on SIP walls is faster and easier due to the ability to fasten to the OSB skin and not having to find studs.
